The problem with that idea is that Linux, unlike Windows, uses multiple
distros and desktop environments. There would have to be a wiki page
for every distro, so it is probably better if every distro creates
their own instructions.

Sure, but they use the same building blocks (NSS, PAM, PolicyKit, ...) so
some 'generic' instructions make sense to me.


Anyway, there's other distro other then debian? ;-)
