Will the packages for samba-4.18 come to stable debian (soon) ? Or do I have to use an external repo or something like backports? hints and howtos welcome, thanks. Currently I am on 4.17.10
Samba for Debian 12 will always be 4.17. You need backports. Easy as: echo "deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm-backports main contrib non-free" >> /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update apt-get install --no-install-recommends -t bookworm-backports samba samba-vfs-modules Regards. However, if you use bookworm-backports you can get Samba 4.18.6 now. Rowland
