samba - Jun 2022 - Debian Bullseye Samba 4.16.1 is online (amd64/i386/armhf/arm64/sources)

I installed 4.16.1 a week ago from your repos and didn't hit a problem.

Do I also have to do that pinning now?

Nah, instructions are there to to make sure we have the right versions

Not if you don?t want to, it?s a choice, you can use it to lock samba on the
repo.
And the why pinning. 
you can do it without, but if you run : apt-get dist-upgrade -t
bullseye-backports.
You get a new 5.10 kernel and other parts you might not want in your upgrades. 
*( as stated on the debian websites on pinning.)
