Since the latest version of Samba on my Linux Mint box, I am only allowed to refer to each networked computer by their IP addresses. Network names don't work. Is this a problem caused by the packages of LM, or is this the "gold standard" that the general Samba software, or caja-share (used with the Caja file manager) will concentrate from now on? -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

Samba, by default, hasn't used SMBv1 since version 4.11.0 and you need SMBv1 for Network Browsing. Windows now uses Network discovery, so you need to use wsdd and avahi. Rowland
