samba - May 2021 - replace DC

Hi.

I have two AD DCs named dc1 and dc2.

dc1 has all the FSMO roles.

If I demote dc2, what happens to the Linux clients that are running 
winbind and connected to dc2?

Ideally, I'd like to demote dc2, install new dc2, then join dc2 back to 
the domain.? In theory, it sounds like it should work.? I just won't to 
create any problems :)

Your clients would look for another DC and find and use dc1

The best plan would be to give the new DC a different name, after all, 
what is in a name.
