[Samba] Disable NETBIOS during "domain provision" or "domain join" (Samba 4 AD)
Hi Rowland, On 20.03.21 at 12:41 Rowland penny via samba wrote:> On 20/03/2021 10:12, Johannes Kastl via samba wrote:>> But: Is the computer's shortname actually really needed? Because I have two DNS entries for the DC, one with the long hostname and one with the "netbios name". Those are created during domain provisioning. So if there is already a A record for the long name, what use is the short name? But if this is needed for AD to work properly, then so be it. I guess this also answers my third question, it seems there is no way to set the netbios name during provisioning/join. Thanks for your help, Rowland! [Samba] Monitor Samba read/write throughput statistics?
I find 100s of references to 'tuning' samba based servers, and the like.? But what I need is actual throughput statistics as an on-going measurement.? Thus stress tools are not applicable, nor is forced IO, need to 'watch' the Samba performance over time. Was surprised that smbstatus does not do this?? Would seem logical for it or similar tool to do so?? There are various methods to watch just basic network interface send/receive throughput, as an example so, surely there is some way to do this for Samba.? I did find a few commercial solutions, but no free methods?? CLI method would be nice, since I want to forward statistics into Node Red. -DD On 03/20/2021 05:25, Johannes Kastl via samba wrote:> Hi Rowland, > > On 20.03.21 at 12:41 Rowland penny via samba wrote: >> On 20/03/2021 10:12, Johannes Kastl via samba wrote: > >>> But: Is the computer's shortname actually really needed?
