Hi All, Not sure what I am missing but based on all the reading I have done so far, it seems I want to use the internal DNS server in Samba4 since I can use Windows DNS client to manage it. I am still unclear though how to get DHCP working with it to dynamically update it since the wiki only has instructions for Bind. Can I use the internal DNS Server and get dynamic updates working with it? Regards, SI
No, that i know off, you need bind_DLZ, but i think Rowland is still looking for his coffee.. ;-) and thats the man to reply on the to be sure. hi you can manage DNS zones using DNS RSAT tool even if you choose BIND(_DLZ) as your DNS backend for samba. there is no problem with that at all. of course not all option(s) in DNS RSAT tool works (maybe this is same independenly from DNS backend), but generally speaking you are able to manage DNS zone records and create whatever new forward/reverse DNS zones without issues. br michal On 2/2/2021 12:33 AM, Software Info via samba wrote:> Hi All, > Not sure what I am missing but based on all the reading I have done so far, it seems I want to use the internal DNS server in Samba4 since I can use Windows DNS client to manage it.
