[Samba] Samba 4.10.7 question with external DNS Server
Maurizio, Yes it's possible. Sample setup. SAMBA_DNS -> forward to -> other DNS server. Where the optional "other DNS server" can be any DNS server you want. In lan or on the internet. You just can not use samba + bind9(_DLZ) and flatfiles. More info https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Administration I hope this helps you.. [Samba] Samba 4.10.7 question with external DNS Server

Yes, you can use a Samba DC with an external dns No, you cannot update the dns records in AD from an external dns server. I have heard of people setting up an external DNS server and then somehow keep this and the Samba dns server in sync, not an easy job. Most people (by this I mean about 99.99% of users) setup the the samba AD dns domain as a subdomain of their main dns domain i.e. if the main dns domain is 'example.com', they would use 'samdom.example.com'. All the domain joined computers would use the DC as their nameserver and anything outside the domain (google for instance) is forwarded to a dns server outside the AD dns domain.> > > -if possible to use this with external DNS, please how to do... this > like a little example > are available on Samba.org ?As I said, it is possible to use an external dns server, but really only as a forwarder.> > > > ----- > > > mutch sorry that i need to write this words......but here are a little > nightmare :-) > four expansive answers will certainly prove this to be meaningless, > thanks!!!I take it you didn't read the Samba wiki before setting up your AD domain.
