The bug has only just be raised, and I don't think that 4.10.6 will be delayed for long enough to fix it. 4.10.6 should contain the fix for bug #13917 though. So it would be helpful if you could retry the online backup on 4.10.6. Then we will know if the online backup problem is still an outstanding issue or not.
Hi, OK, perfect, is correct to use old samba_backup script as workround to make backups until no solution about this bug? Note that you can run an online backup from any machine (you don't necessarily have to change the samba version on the DC itself). I haven't used the samba_backup script myself. The git history says that 'samba-tool domain backup offline' "...replaces samba_backup as that tool does not handle sam.ldb and secrets.ldb correctly.? Those two databases need to have transactions started on them before their downstream ldb and tdb files are backed up." Basically I think it was possible to potentially get a corrupt/inconsistent database using the old samba_backup script, if the database was changing at the point you made the backup.
