Hello,
I'm struggling to make an NT style member server[*] work after the
recent update of samba in ubuntu 14.04 (samba 2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu): no
matter how I set the various parameters, it doesn't authenticate against
the server (it's running samba 3.5.2, old and unsupported, I know, a
replacement is planned but not right now)
[*] actually a clone of the real vm, where I downgraded samba to the
previous version that works (2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu).
In this thread
http://lists-archives.com/samba/96377-nonfunctional-linux-cifs-mounts-after-update-ads-windows-dc-auth.html
Jeremy Allison said that NTLM auth should be passed to winbindd.
In case this also applies to an NT domain, I tried to run winbindd
(which I never did before), but it segfaults almost immediately.
Just before the segfault I see a strange user_name:

It seems there's an extra 0 (instead of an 'L') spoiling the utf-16
interpretation, however I couldn't see it in wireshark traces, so I
don't know where it comes from.
Bye
