I tested samba 4.3.1 on Fedora 23 and rawhide.
The colon problem is not corrected yet.

$ getfattr Mew.txt

ouch - sounds we should wait with replace netatalk completly with samba 
without losing any attributes and ressource forks

iirc you need fruit:encoding = native
