Hi dears, It has been a long time that we did not update our samba (4.0.10). Is it possible to directly update it to the latest stable version as stated in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba or we should take another path?! Please note that we have just one samba 4 AD DC working with internal DNS and without any additional DC or replication. Yours, E. Alaei

Regards, Marc
Thanks dear Marc Actually I was afraid of previous release notes, should I read all the notes for 4.1.X,4.2.x and 4.3.x and <4.0.10? It would be a lot of reading?! [Samba] access denied for ms office documents on samba 4.1.17 ubuntu 12.04
I’ve posted earlier a question related to the problem regarding MS Office Documents that are saved in share folders on samba 4.1.17. Samba 4 is installed and configured as AC DC on Ubuntu 12.04 server. All share folders are accessible to the respective users with respective rights. The problem is, some Office Documents at times will not be accessible even to file creators, owners. This happens at least once a day. When I login as an administrator and check the rights of users on those documents, I found that all users who have been give full right, have lost their rights on those documents but folders. This happens only by office documents and sometimes by some files that are downloaded from Internet and from e-mail saved attachments. Until now, I didn’t find any solution to this problems. Now I’ve noticed that the problem appears when different users (more than one user) work on the same office file irrespective of the time when the users accessed the documents. By Documents that are owned and accessed only by one and same user (creator) there was no such problem. Is there anything that I can do to fix it? Thank you
