[Samba] windows share : retransmission and time out of Trans2 Request, FIND_FIRST2
OS- windows vista 32-bits Control Panel -> Network & Sharing center Network discovery ON File Sharing ON Public folders Sharing ON Password protected sharing ON Media Sharing ON Window firewall turned OFF McAffee firewall turned OFF Case 1: Connect to LAN using wireless connection (network type= private) I can open the windows share, look at the list of shared folders & open them. Case 2: Switch from Wireless to Wired LAN connection (network type= private) I can open the windows share, look at the list of shared folders. But can* NOT open any shared folder*. The open request times out on the client. All I am doing is change from Wireless to Wired connection. Everything else is equal. I want to switch to wireless to improve file transfer speeds. Here is a network trace from wireshark. I keep seeing re-transmissions for the packet highlighted below. Eventually the request times out at the client end. 139 23.780789000 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.4 SMB 160 Tree Connect AndX Request, Path: \\192.168.1.4\USERS 140 23.781413000 192.168.1.4 192.168.1.2 SMB 124 Tree Connect AndX Response 141 23.787286000 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.4 SMB 154 Trans2 Request, FIND_FIRST2, Pattern: \* 144 23.988441000 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.4 SMB 154 *[TCP Retransmission] Trans2 Request, FIND_FIRST2, Pattern: \** 145 24.073991000 192.168.1.4 192.168.1.2 SMB 124 [TCP Retransmission] Tree Connect AndX Response
