Migrating Samba from one server to another. I configure a CentOS 5.4 server with samba3-3.4.7-42.el5 from SerNet. At this point the server's IP address is 10.32.1.201. I migrate the persistent tdb (and ldb!) files an older server, then turn off the old server and reconfigure the new one to 10.32.1.200. Now every 5 minutes or so, nmbd complains: There is already a domain master browser at IP 10.32.1.201 for workgroup WORKGROUP registered on subnet UNICAST_SUBNET There isn't: 10.32.1.201 does not exist any more. Shouldn't 10.32.1.200 realise there's nothing there, force an election, and take the domain master browser function for itself? Moray. "To err is human.? To purr, feline"
