I actually duplicated the root option in /etc/passwd, made it have no valid shell or home dir, and called it Administrator. this I then chose a very obscure random letters password and added the user to smbpasswd with one of our administrative passwords. As stated priviously on this list: swat uses the normal unix authentisation not smbpasswd. You may check your pam-settings. And there have been versions of swat that have a RedHat related bug.
