-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm having a very weird samba problem that I have never seen in my whole life. The problem seems to be when transfering binary files (dos binary files). We're running Samba 2.2.1a on Mandrake 8.1. Our clients are Windows 9x, maybe some Windows ME, they run a DOS application... sometimes the applications run without any problem, and sometimes, they take about 2 or 3 minutes to start running, this behaviour occurs more often when another computer is running the same application. Here, the problem is with .exe files, which are dos binary files. Then, when copying greats amount of data, we have the same problem, with some .exe files, the it takes about 2 or 3 minutes to start copying it, and then we have the same problem with some .sys files, so, I think the problem is with dos binary files. Another weird thing is that swat says that samba is not running althoug it is running, and we had some crashes of the DOS application due to problems openning some files, but that was common enough to trak it down. I tryed a lot of things, with diferent configurations, but nothing worked. In the logs, after about 2 minutes of waiting for the DOS application to show up, I see the Error = Connection reset by peer. Any idea ? if you need me to make any test that can help track down and solve this problem I'll be glad to do it, if you have any documentation that can help me, please, spot it to me. Thank you very much! - -- Pupeno: pupeno@pupeno.com.ar http://www.pupeno.com.ar -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8VDafWhjnmGRO4vQRAo/SAKCmKCDwWS3s/gFFlqAOQZL9YBHnjACgl8Ze 0rLoO/ghk71iXGaEue/CKS4=uYJv -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Hi Pupeno, the quickiest hack what can help you is to upgrade your samba package to version 2.2.2 from Mandrake updates. Look at your favourite Mandrake mirror, find updates for 8.1 and do an upgrade. Version 2.2.2 has some oplock's problem fixed. Also, try to turn off oplock support on shares, where you are exporting any dos databases. Oplock failures can lead into broken data, and that is very very bad. ;-( I know, what I'm talking about, I have the same problems as you. ;-(( Best regards... mARTin> I'm having a very weird samba problem that I have never seen in my whole > life. > The problem seems to be when transfering binary files (dos binary > files). > We're running Samba 2.2.1a on Mandrake 8.1.
