We hav been experiencing a problem on our Samba server for a while now. When opening an XLS file in a share using MS Excel, the modified time gets updated - even though the file was never modified .. This becoes frustrating for the managers who scan a share for modified files .. This appears to be specific to Excel, as the MS Word documents are fine. I am not really a windows user, so I am not too sure if it is some sort of "auto-save" feature .. although it does happen to all Excel users on the Network (All have default installations) Any pointers greatly appreciated .. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- | .--. Time is updated on opening, and reset on closing, if the file is not modified. -- Detlef //// (Q Q) ---------------------------------------------------------------o0o.-(_)-.o0o---- Detlef Lammermann MATERNA GmbH Information & Communications mailto:detlef.lammermann@materna.de Wetterkreuz 3 Voice: +49 9131 7723-60 D-91058 Erlangen Fax: +49 9131 7723-45
