This seems more like a copyright issue than a license issue.
I know many Samba books have an appendix containing the man pages
and the book itself is not under an Open Content License.
If you are simply quoting man pages, make sure you reference the
source (not claim them as your own) and I think it will be ok.
I'll be glad to look at any prototypes you have if you want
to give more specific feedback.
