Hi,
OK we are up and running on 2.2.3pre with 2.2.20+ACLs. I have added
"kernel
oplocks = no" to the smb.conf this afternoon to make sure that oplocks are
out of the picture. Only a couple of things to note so far.
Firstly there was a heart-stopping moment early this morning when a user was
deleting some files from a share and the process went zooming at about 90%
of the CPU for about five minutes. Unlike previous situtions like this, the
smbd finally relaxed and disappeared and no other users were affected.
The second thing was a little more serious in that winbind blew-up just
after lunch. Before I get into that I should point out that I am running
winbind with the same winbindd_idmap.tdb from 2.2.2 to obvioulsy keep my
user mappings but I am not sure if, or how, this affects things with 2.2.3.
I have attached the relevant part of the winbind log below. The actual
event saw the winbind process consume 106% (!?) of the memory for about five
minutes before finally disappearing.
On the plus side the memory leak in winbind seems to have been reduced
substantially although I do notice it does seem to be creeping up very
slowly (all the way to 106% at one point... ;-) but that might be just
normal and it will reduce when the users logout.
