I am running Samba on a Unix machine. I have NT clients that map drives to this Unix machine. Every once in a while a user will lose the ability to map a drive to the Unix machine. The error message that they get is as follows "Incorrect password or unknown username for:" Putting in the correct username and password does not work. The user ends up having to disconnect all mapped drives to the Unix machine and then they are able to reconnect to the Unix machine. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of problem? Any ideas on how to correct the problem.
Yes, I have the same problem!! I have not seen or heard of any fix for this as of yet, other than having the user disconnect all manually map drives and re-connect. By the way, what OS (Unix) are you running? What version of Samba are you running? I'm running Solaris 2.6 (with latest patches) and Samba version is 2.0.7. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Lynn.Dicks@swfwmd.state.fl.us wrote:> I am running Samba on a Unix machine. I have NT clients that map drives to > this Unix machine. Have you been able to detect a pattern? i.e. does it happen after the machine has been booted up for a long time, after heavy use, or after periods of no use? Can you coincide the occurance with anything else? (such as adding new users?) Just thinking in debugging mode ... -Bill
Interesting, I'm also running Samba-2.0.7 on Solaris 2.6 and I'm not seeing this. Are you using Domain security? -------------------- Michael St. Laurent Hartwell Corporation> -----Original Message----- > From: Mitch McNeel [mailto:mitchm@mwh.com] > Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2001 10:33 AM > To: Samba > Subject: Re: Mapping Network Drives > > > Yes, I have the same problem!! If you reply to the mailing list as well, others can help out if I don't know the answer. Unfortunately what you're describing isn't much help for debugging. Is there anything in the log files? Have you tried increasing "debug level"? Are there any particular files that are accessed when it occurs. I would recommend asking all users who are experiencing this problem to keep a log of exactly what they were doing each time it occurs and attempt to establish a pattern. If you can determine when it's happening, you can probably determine why it's happening. -Bill Lynn.Dicks@swfwmd.state.fl.us wrote:> > Thanks for such a quick response.
