Hi Rafal,
Problem is that HP-UX sets the user 'nobody' and 'nogroup' by
default to
negative values.
Samba cannot handle this; and the Opensource version of 2.0.7 uses
'nobody'
as the
guest account by default.
The HP-UX version (CIFS/9000 Server, Samba) creates a user called SMBNULL,
and uses that
as the default guest account.
You can either install the CIFS/9000 Server that comes with HP-UX 11.0 (you
can also get the
2.0.7 HP-UX version free from http://wwww.software.hp.com under the
networking and administration section), or create a dummy user in your
/etc/passwd file with a positive uid/gid, and use the smb.conf "guest
account = dummyuser" to get around this.

I work with HP-UX 11.00. I installed Samba 2.0.7 on 3 machines from
package and from source. I start smbd (with smb.conf correct), i start nmbd.
After I want to test my Samba with commande :
smbclient -U% -L localhost
but anytime I have error in the logfile :
