samba - Mar 2001 - files disappear from share

Hi Folks,
I set up a samba (2.0.6) share (/var/tmp visible as folder "test" in
the
Network neighborhood) from my linux (redhat 6.2) box. Now any user can put 
a file in the shared folder. Problem is when the linux box is shut down, 
the files in the share go away.  Is this a bug in 2.0.6, or is there a 
configuration issue?

Hi Mark,

    Files in /var/tmp get erased every time you reboot.  Suggestion:
create a directory called "/export".  Inside export, create
"public",
users directories, etc..  And, share them from Samba. This way
thay are easier to administer (and find!); not to mention they
won't get erased  every time you reboot.
