Hello to any great Samba people who can help !! I get following message in both log.smb and log.nmb when trying to start the daemons: [2001/02/25 22:08:43, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(824) Get_Hostbyname: Unknown host -a Any ideas? I would love to get Samba working but I'm stumped on this. I've run swat to setup the smb.conf file and can't seem to determine what's wrong. have you added in your /etc/hosts on the samba server its IP and hostname? it has to know its name to advertise it on LAN. Another posibility is to add it to the nameserver you have in /etc/resolv.conf hope this helps dragos
