samba - Feb 2001 - Get Kerberos Authentication Prior to Access AFS Through Samba

Hi,

   I am trying to develop Macintosh client for my Macintosh users to access AFS
environment.  I have brought up a Samba server successfully with AFS option,
and installed a test version of DAVE (downloaded from Thursby's website) on
Mac.  

  Our shop uses Kerberos servers (not use local password files) for
authentication process and to obtain AFS tokens before users access the AFS
environment.  In my Samba smb.conf file, I used "security = server"
and
"passward server = kerberos".  After several tests, I got the same set
of error
messages indicated "error connecting to the kerberos server",
"password server
not available", and "password server is not connected".

  Anyone have same or similar development ?  I would appreciate any help.

Hello People,

This information could be found on the net easily, but
I wanted a simple answer before I start looking...

Is meta-talk the only way to connect Linux servers to 
Macintosh?  Or is there any way to use only Samba
to do the same?

Any links to such information is appreciated.

Hi Tony
netatalk isnt the only appletalk server for Linux, there is another
called cap (or something similar) but i have no experience wiht it. To
connect an Apple client with samba you need Dave from thursby software,
this seems to work fine with samba, but it not free software and cost
about 100$. Netatalk works fine parallel with samba on one Linux box.
