Hope somebody out there can help. I'm trying to setup Samba 2.07 on Solaris 8. It now compiles, builds and installs cleanly, and creating a conf file is no problem, but when I come to do a - smbpasswd -a userone I get the message - make_sam_from_nisresult:NIS+ lookup failure: Database for table does not exist. Failed to add entry for user userone. Failed to modify password entry for userone. userone exists in the password and shadow tables that have been used to populate NIS+, and doing a niscat passwd.org_dir shows the user correctly. Anyone any ideas as I am a bit out of my depth. Thanks in advance, Chris.> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > ---------------------- > Burn bright, burn hard, burn long, and if all you leave behind on this > earth > is a well charred corpse, then you can say you have lived. > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > ---------------------- > Mailto cpeck@dera.gov.uk > > >-- The Information contained in this E-Mail and any subsequent correspondence is private and is intended solely for the intended recipient(s). Make sure that userone already has an account on your solaris machine. then run smbpasswd again. -ryu> Hope somebody out there can help. > > I'm trying to setup Samba 2.07 on Solaris 8. The user I am trying to add has a valid account and their login works fine. The SWAT tool also fails to add any users for me. I am running nisplus, and that seems to be working fine. I compiled samba with the --with-nisplus option. Sorry about dodgy reply format, but I am limited to Outlook for posting.
