I have recently upgraded our AIX machine to 4.3.3. I have re-installed samba. However, the smbd could not be started and when I check the /var/samba/log/log.smb file, it shows the following message: [2000/09/27 11:21:42, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(863) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use) What could I do ? Please advise. Best Regards, Julian
Sounds like something is running at that port. I recommend you check your /etc/rc.d files and see what is running that is taking up that port. Perhaps portsentry is grabbing it (if you have portsentry on). Just a guess Frank> Subject: Cannot start smbd > To: samba@samba.org > From: Julian.Tan@allianz.com.sg > Date: Wed, 27 Sep 2000 11:46:08 +0800 > > I have recently upgraded our AIX machine to 4.3.3.
