Hi, I came across this page while browsing in the list archives: bioserve.biochem.latrobe.edu.au/samba The link on the page about adding machines and users had some interesting things in it that I thought I would try out. Specifically this link is: bioserve.biochem.latrobe.edu.au/samba/adding.html I wna to be able to log into the samba 2.0.7 'domain' from an NT workstation. In order to do this I need to create an account called the name of my NT workstation with a '$' appended to it. ie: ntmachine$ The adduser command will not allow me to do this. When I edit /etc/passwd manually the system still doesn't seem to like it. After the account is created on the system I need to add it to the smbpasswd file by using the command: smbpasswd -a m ntmachine$ When issuing this command smbpasswd complains that it cannot find a user with this name in the /etc/passwd file (even though I have manually edited the file so that it is in there. Is there any way to Add NT machine account to a FreeBSD 4.0 Samba 2.0.7 system? If so how do I do it? Also, where is the smbpasswd file (the file - not the binary utility) kept on FreeBSD? I have installed Samba 2.0.7 from the ports collection on the FreeBSD website but downloading the package and using the 'pkgadd'command. Please reply to my email as well as the list as I don't subscribe, only browse the archives every second day or so. Thanks. _____________________________________________________________________________ geocities.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo! Australia & NZ GeoCities - Build your own Web Site - for free!
