samba - Jun 2000 - 2.0.7: nmblookup doesn't output localized chars

2.0.7, linux 2.2.14, rh61.

character set = iso8859-1
client code page = 850

There is a win9x machine that registered a netbios name with an accented
char.

I can see that ok from a dos box with
nbtstat -A ip.address

But 
nmblookup -A ip.address 
shows a dot in place of the char.

The same is true for pre-2.2.0 (had to delete util_array.o from Makefile
to compile).
