Hello, Inspired by successfully compiling 2.0.6 on a SCO Unixware 7.1 box I attempted similar on a Sequent Numa-Q running Dynix 4.4.2. Er , Configure failed with the following message: checking for conflicting AUTH_ERROR define in rpc/rpc.h... no checking for test routines... configure: error: cant find test code. Aborting config I am mostly ignorant of C: any suggestions as to my next move would be appreciated. I have saved the ./configure output for future reference. thanks, john campbell

I recieve this error trying to build samba 2.0.7 on Redhat 6.2 with kernel
2.2.16 and gcc 2.91.66:

ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe
configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config
The error happens during the configure and won't let me even try to build
the binaries.
Any ideas?

When I run the configure script for samba-latest I get the no locking error. checking whether struct passwd has pw_comment... yes checking whether struct passwd has pw_age... yes checking for poptGetContext in -lpopt... no checking whether to use included popt... ./popt checking configure summary...
