samba - Dec 1999 - how to specify the ip address for samba to use

Possibly I am misunderstanding the question, but I believe you are looking for 
the 'interfaces=' smb.conf parameter.
check it out in the man page for smb.conf:
has the format

interfaces = ipaddress/subnetmask
