Hi. I'm experiencing a severe problem with netscape and Word repeatedly giving an "illegal operation" error and causing my user's PC(s) to have to be rebooted. Generally when 1 PC experiences the problem several more will also experience the same thing in rapid succession(i.e. within seconds) but not ALL systems will do this(thank god). Some of the PC log files report only the following: [1999/12/01 09:27:42, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_data(507) read_socket_data: recv failure for 4. Error = Connection reset by peer while others will give more info like this: [1999/12/01 09:27:44, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_socket_with_timeout(296) read_socket_with_timeout: timeout read. read error = Connection reset by peer. [1999/12/01 09:27:44, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(918) oplock_break: receive_smb error (Connection reset by peer) oplock_break failed for file netscape/Cache/fat.db (dev = 900, inode 1992730 ). [1999/12/01 09:27:44, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(992) oplock_break: client failure in break - shutting down this smbd. .. .. .. [1999/12/01 09:28:16, 0] smbd/oplock.c:request_oplock_break(1136) request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid 2757 9 on port 1076 for dev = 900, inode = 1992730 for dev = 900, inode = 1992730, tv_sec = 38452af0, tv_usec = 22de4 I have samba 2.0.3 running on a RedHat 5.0 system. The user's application and data files are all located on this server. So does anybody have an idea of what might be going on?
