Hi guys.. I need your help. I have managed to setup samba as a pdc for my windows clients to connect to it.. They are all using w2k proffesional. it seems that i cannot change my password from my w2k professional client when using samba as a pdc .... can anyone pls help me?????????? it keeps saying that old password is wrong .. when if fact it is not. i have added lines like My smb.conf file ... smb passwd file = /usr/local/samba/private/smbpassword passwd chat = "*new password*" %n\r "*new password again*" %n\r "*Password change*" passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u unix password sync = yes encrypt passwords = yes security = yes ... How does the password chat work for window clients? How do they get to see their password being changed? Why cant I change my password from windows 2000 proffessional I looked everywhere on the net and there does not seem to be any fixed for this .. Pls help cheers`
Yes, its what everyone seems to be using, and where the most development is. As mentioned, it has these really cool little help links next to each entry which gives a good understanding what is achieved by each entry. I recommend using the packages from samba.org rather than those that come from mandrake. best wishes! brad -- Bradley W. Langhorst <brad@langhorst.com>
Dear friends, I am currently involved in a project of my own. the project is in relation to the Samba integration with a LDAP server like Novell eDirectory, OpenLDAP etc,. I learnt a lot of stuff regarding Samba and LDAP servers. I tried compiling the Samba source code with the LDAP support "--with-ldap" & "--with-ldapsam". After compiling and installing I was expecting an option in the "smb.conf" file where I can specify the attributes related to the LDAP server (like IP address of the LDAP server, the kind of communication channel they establish (encrypted or not)). But Iam not able to see any such option in the smb.conf file. If this is not the case then should I need to manually edit the smb.conf to include those attributes. Is there anything wrong with the procedure I followed, or did I left out anything. (System and software spec: I am using the latest Samba source code (latest.tar.gz), Iam using RedHat Linux 8.0.) Kindly help me in this regard. Regards Subramanian S. Catch all the cricket action. Download Yahoo! Score tracker
