samba - Oct 1999 - latest SMB protocols

I am new to samba and SMB.
Can anyone tell me where I can find online SMB protocols?
ftp.microsoft.com is not responding.

Depending on the level of detail you wish, you could read RFC1001 and
RFC1002. Too detailed for me, but you might like them. See them at
http://ietf.org/rfc/rfc1001.txt, and http://ietf.org/rfc/rfc1002.txt. Also
check out the www.samba.org site, and your own docs in the textdocs directory.
