Hi all, My problem is this - I rebuilt my FreeBSD server's kernel for a number of reasons. After doing so, I found that smbd wouldn't start (I start it from inetd but it won't start as a daemon from the command line, either). Looking at the log file, I got the following: [1999/09/28 10:14:55, 1] smbd/server.c:main(628) smbd version 2.0.5a started. Copyright Andrew Tridgell 1992-1998 [1999/09/28 10:14:55, 1] smbd/files.c:file_init(216) file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1054 are available. [1999/09/28 10:14:55, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(886) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use) Why would smbd think for any reason that the machine is 0.0.0.0? Is that what this error report means? Note that I replaced my custom kernel with the generic kernel and had no joy - same problem. Samba is version 2.0.5a. Somebody help, please!
