samba - Aug 1999 - problems with wins support

hi!

my samba server seems to be set up correctly, but there are problems with
the samba wins support. my nt clients announce themselves as local masters
for my workgroup and therefore all the machines in my network play democracy
all the time.

the clients are set up to use the samba wins server so they should not try
to become a server themselves at all :((

any idea?

WINS is used for name resolution and has nothing to do with browsing. If
you want your Samba machine to be local master browser set "local master
= yes" and "os level = 64" or a similarly high value (this
determines
its chance at winning elections).
