samba - Apr 1999 - Long share names

Is there a way to create share names > 8 characters,
with spaces? Example, a share name called
"Inactive time sheets".

All my clients are Win9x boxes, and I'm running
Samba 2.0.3.

Perhaps some source code tweaks if necessary?

Hello list,

I have seen a problem with using NT 4 Workstations against Samba 2.0.7 on a 
Linux box. With NT user names longer than 12 characters those users cannot 
access their home directories, error message on the NT client is "Network 
name cannot be found". Logging in with the same user from a Win 2000 client
works fine, as does accessing other shares on the NT client. Does NT 4 WS 
truncate the user name when sending it to Samba? Any other reasons why this 
would happen?
