Since we upgraded from 1.9.18 to 2.0.3 Samba processes (smbd) are
"eating" sometimes 40-45% of the cpu time for ONE process !!!. Before
it
was never greater than 3 - 5% for each smbd. We use Sun e450 with Sol
2.5.1, gnu 2.7.2 and nearly 60 NT-ws clients with sp3 or sp4. Especially
when people are working with netscape (netscape cache is in their
homes), but also with some other application (SPSS). We plan to set for
all 2000 users netscape cache on c:\temp, but with 1.9.18 this problem
was not existing. I used also my compiled samba and binary from samba
site, the same effect. my smb.conf:
# Samba config file created using SWAT

I have oplocks = no on homes, because for some reason working with
Visual Basic on homes with oplocks was not possible.
Any ideas ?
