Hi, I suspect that my following question is something which is very easy, and I am being silly not being able to solve it, but if anyone can help me I would be very grateful. I am running samba1.9.18p5-1 (which came with my RedHat distribution 5.1). It is used to connect to a Windows NT4 (Server) PC. If the PC is turned off and I boot the LINUX machine, and then the PC, when the PC comes up it fails to start the networking software and logs "The workgroup or domain name is already in use by another computer on the network". If, however, I boot the PC first and then the LINUX box, connections can be made and everything seems fine. This sounds very similar (but not quite the same) to one of the problems mentioned in the GOCHAS.txt. I have set the following in smb.conf to try and force the LINUX machine not to take control of the workgroup (I assume that is what is happening??) with the following: preferred master = no os level = 0 local master = no domain master = 0 This make no difference though and the PC still complains. Can anyone suggest what I need to do in order to make sure the PC can start up after the LINUX machine ? Thanks in advance James Riley Software Engineer Siemens Traffic Controls Ltd.
