Whenever I try to connect to a service on my Samba server (with a client running Win98) I get a password prompt, and after entering it, am told that it is incorrect. I have made 100% sure that my password is correct, and that my login matches. The problem reported in the Samba log is this: ... sessetupX:name=[DAVE] 1999/08/09 17:14:25 error packet at line 644 cmd=115 (SMBsessetupX) eclass=2 ecode=2 error string= No such file or directory end of file from client etc.... I've succesfully completed the steps 1 through 7 in the DIAGNOSIS.txt included in the package. On step 8, I get the same error shown above. My "allow hosts" command is commented out. Security = user. Testparm reports no problems. I can connect locally on my linux machine (running the samba server) using smbclient, only remote logins do not work. The service which I am trying to connect to (a public service) DOES exist. ----- Aside from that - another strange thing: With smbclient, If I want to connect to \\HOSTNAME\SERVICE, I have to type "smbclient \\\\HOSTNAME\\SERVICE" (hence I need double the "\" characters) or else I get an error saying that there "aren't enough '\' characters in the service name". ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
