"rename attempted on batch oplocked file" Samba mesg with Source Integrity (RCS-like tool)
Hello, I encounter a very special problem with Samba and an RCS tool (MKS Source Integrity). When trying to perform a simple check-out or a check-in, the program seems to hang for a long time. Finally, I get what I want but if I take a look to the samba log file, I can find this for one file: (here the file is _LOG.H ) [1999/03/02 17:19:02, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(742) oplock_break: receive_smb timed out after 30 seconds. oplock_break failed for file GENPOS/COMMON.SRC/BELGIUM/RCS/_LOG.H (dev 808, inode = 79913). [1999/03/02 17:19:02, 0] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(812) oplock_break: client failure in break - shutting down this smbd. [1999/03/02 17:19:02, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(514) eft35 (0.0.0.0) closed connection to service pos [1999/03/02 17:19:02, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(488) eft35 (192.168.0.35) connect to service pos as user edv (uid=501, gid=600) (pid 9380) [1999/03/02 17:19:02, 0] smbd/open.c:check_file_sharing(1196) check_file_sharing: NT redirector workaround - rename attempted on batch oplocked file GENPOS/COMMON.SRC/BELGIUM/RCS/_LOG.H, dev = 808, inode = 79913 I think this is because MKS tries to rename an oplocked file. I've tried to take a look to disable oplocks, but MKS replies that he cannot obtain system locks. Perhaps someone has an idea of what to do in this case. I just need a workaround to accelerate things ! Please help me, this is confusing me a lot! Thank you in advance, Eric Devolder
