It looks like your connection to your NT box has been closed after you have been idle for too long. NT does this. If this is the case, you can solve the problem by supplying the password to access the share in the smbmount command: smbmount //sol/internal_webpages password -U jo2y -W JPRC \ -c "mount /home/jo2y/mnt" peloy.- James O'Kane <jo2y@jprc.com> wrote:> What could be wrong here? > > > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ smbmount //sol/internal_webpages -U jo2y -W JPRC -c > "mount /home/jo2y/mnt" > Added interface ip=207.86.147.157 bcast=207.86.147.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 > Server time is Sun Feb 21 12:02:56 1999 > Timezone is UTC-5.0 > Password: > Domain=[JPRC] OS=[Windows NT 4.0] Server=[NT LAN Manager 4.0] > security=user > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ df > Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on > /dev/hda5 995115 593446 401669 60% / > /dev/hda1 15522 5356 10166 35% /boot > /dev/hda6 2920188 971542 1948646 33% /home > //SOL/INTERNAL_WEBPAGES > 1586560 990176 596384 62% /home/jo2y/mnt > > [...10 mins later...] > > > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ cd mnt > [jo2y@thelia mnt]$ ls > ls: .: Input/output error > [jo2y@thelia mnt]$ cd .. > [jo2y@thelia ..]$ pwd > /homes/jo2y/mnt/.. > [jo2y@thelia ..]$ cd ~ > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ smbumount mnt > Could not open mnt: Input/output error > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ smbumount /home/jo2y/mnt > Could not open /home/jo2y/mnt: Input/output error > [jo2y@thelia jo2y]$ > > >
Here is the thing: i have one pc with windows nt server and i want to see one of the share drives from a linux box.I can do it fine with smbclient. But when i trie to use smbmount it looks like it is mounting the share drive but when i do a 'ls' in the local directory i get a "input/output error".What can be wrong? thanks in advance -- ... ...SHinE oN YoU CrAZy DiaMOnDs... ... ------------------------------------------- E-mails: kgeorga@magnet.gr (Magnet Internet Services) kgeorga@it.teithe.gr (Information Technology Department) ICQ: 55286408 -------------------------------------------
