SAMBA Gurus (Both on the mailing list and in the nesgroup):
I am running 1.9.18p8 on our production server and 2.0beta4 on a test
server. Both are HP-UX 10.20. Hundreds of happy end-users quietly
sharing files. Except one. He runs the Adobe Acrobat Catalog program
on his Windows NT 4.0 machine. It fails, whether connected to the
production server or test server. Granted, this is an old application
that utilizes the 16-bit windows APIs and Adobe has no plans for
an upgrade.
If the files are stored on our NT Server or his local drive, no
problem. But when placed on the Samba server, it fails to access any
files or directories that do not conform to the 8.3 file format. There
is no problem with upper or lower case, just 8.3. Whether I set
"mangled names" to yes or no, his program fails for the long
filenames.
Besides the relevant pieces of my smb.conf file, is there anything
else that would help diagnose the problem? Thanks for your help.
