samba - Oct 1998 - smbpasswd (error code 131)

I'm trying to migrate to a system with encrypted passwords, but I have a
problem with smbpasswd.  When I try to modify an encrypted passwd (either NO
PASSWORD or a valid one) on unix, smbpasswd returns the following message:

smbpasswd: machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the session request. Error was : code
131.

Anyone any ideas?

 Do you have 'host allow' statements in your smb.conf ?. If so, you have
to allow the 127.0.0.1 to connect as well as your desired network addresses
for smbpasswd to do it stuff.
