Hi all, I'm very new to the Linux/Samba world and hopefully someone can help me a little. The problem I have is the speed of my connection. I have a slackware linux 2.0.30 running with the samba suite. Then I mounted a shared directory on a Windows NT 4.0 Server (it is in a Win NT Domain) via smbmount. I wanted to install StarOffice on that mounted directory, but the setup calculated an installtime of 4:30 hours for about 160 MB. As I couldn't believe that, I waited about 30 minutes before canceling. But in fact there were just about 20 MB on the directory! So my question is: What can I do to speed up this connection? (for example if I copy 160 MB under Win NT to a shared directory on the server, it needs about 10 minutes, not 4.5 hours!) Thanks in advance! Thomas Scholz
