We also have a very simple smb.conf. In our case, Samba sometimes fails to transfer a very large file (several 100Mb, being used as part of routine NT workstation building using GHOST). Usually it has worked fine, but has failed just a couple of times. The following was trapped in the log file after one failure: 1998/08/07 12:52:54 request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break r equest to pid 25956 on port 3755 for dev = 805402, inode = a2504 This sounds similar to Lucian's error, and I wonder is it Digital Unix specific?
