"The account is not authorized to login from this station"
I am trying to map a network drive from NT 4.0 to a Solaris 2.6 box. After entering userid and password I get the message: The account is not authorized to login from this station in a dialog box on the NT machine. Ironically I can get into the target system fine from one station but not from any others. Any ideas what's not set up properly? --Dave Patrick -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... This happens if you install service pack 3 or Win95. NT4 with SP3 will send encrypted passwords which samba (on default) cannot understand. If you need high security see the "ENCRYPTION.txt" in the docs directory. Otherwise you can turn on plain passwords under NT in the registry, see docs directory (NT4_PlainPassword.reg, Win95_PlainPassword.reg). I think this error message is to confuse hackers :-) Marco

If you have install SP3 and do not use encrypted passwords on the samba server you get this error. Hope this helps, j- ________________________________________________________________________ Gerald ( Jerry ) Carter Engineering Network Services Auburn University jerry@eng.auburn.edu http://www.eng.auburn.edu/users/cartegw "...a hundred billion castaways looking for a home." - Sting "Message in a Bottle" ( 1979 )
