I am new to running Samba and have a problem with prompting for the NT password a second time when the NT logon script runs. This does not occur with Windows 95, it takes the password entered for Win95 and logon script connection to Samba server with no problem. I am running Samba 1.9.17p3 on Sun. Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi I have the same problem - NT always asks for the password again, when connecting to a share for the first time. If NT used the user-password automatically for the share, it would send the user-passowrd (clear-text to a samba-server!!) over the net. This, together with ip-spoofing could be easily used to get user-passwords from an nt-machine. I think this is way NT aks for the password a second time. Maybe the behavior can be changed by editing the registry. mfg, fgp
I am using domain password setup, so all my nt machines see the linux box, and all its shares. When I try to look at an NT share on the server it asks me for a password, when given it appears the password was not accepted and asks me again. I have even tried adding a user to the NT domain that has no password, and still no luck. Can someone help ? Thanks Roger
