What are currently the alternatives for backing op NT servers properly over SMB? I'm aware one could use SMBTAR or SMBFS to remotely backup the files, but what about the NTFS permissions? As I understand it, SMB doesn't have any permissions per se. The fs permissions decide what a specific user can do over SMB, that's all. Is there a way to dump/restore these? I'm aware of cacls, but has anyone seen a tool to recursively/dump restore NTFS permissions? It would be a great help, so we can stop backing up those dumb boxes manually ;-) Thx, Tom. -- | Tom Vandepoel | Sr.Network Engineer | NetVision nv tom@netvision.be http://www.netvision.be | | T. 32-16-31.00.15 | F. 32-16-31.00.29
