Can anyone explain what is going on here? I have compiled and installalled samba on an HP-UX server. The HP box shows up in the browser and can be accessed by Win95 clients. However connects by WINNT clients are rejected. Figuring this might have something to do with encrypted passwords I have compiled and installed the des library with no problems. The WINNT boxes can now connect BUT only if I use the smbpasswd utility to make a password for each user. I was hoping to have the HP-UX box TRANSPARENTLY rverify users and passwords against the windows NT domain. For this reason I set the smb.conf file as: Workgroup = SPC [global] wins server = requin.spc.org.nc domain logons = no domain controller = no password server = requin.spc.org.nc security = server encrypt passwords = yes revalidate = no domain master = no local master = no [homes] guest ok = no writable = yes BUT every time a connection is attemptesd I see the following messages logged: negprot w/password server as 2625merou requin.spc.org.nc rejected the session requin.spc.org.nc not connected WHY is requin refusing the password verification connection from the HP-UX box? How can I get the passwords verified by the WindowsNT (requin) server so that I dont have to keep smbpasswd up to date? Incidentally requin.spc.org.nc is a BDC - does that matter?
