the number of unix machines and windows clients configured with the
incorrect subnet mask / broadcast address is surprisingly high,
particularly when the configuration is left to a normal computer user to
carry out.
f.y.i, SCO's VisionFS, as part of the installation procedure,
automatically detects incorrectly configured clients.
